Company Description

Brittle Barn Farms is an organic poultry farm located in beautiful Bellingham, WA. Owned and operated by environmentally conscious, young farmers, Brittle Barn utilizes traditional methods of raising livestock with responsible land-stewardship, an eye toward food justice, and minimal fossil fuel input.

Our five-acre farm is made up of pasture, wetlands, and young woodlands located just outside of Bellingham city limits. On this acreage grows non-certified organic fruit, vegetables, grain, Icelandic sheep, chicken, geese, ducks, and turkeys.

All of our birds are fed a diet of high-protein, organic, locally-mixed feed, fresh fruits and veggies, greens and grubs. Hand-raised according to the European standard of free-range, they have limitless access to exercise during daylight hours, providing a meal high in omega 3, nutrients, and flavor. We set our prices with a strong dedication to making quality, wholesome foods accessible to all.

Chicken being our main product, we select heritage-cross breeds with strong foraging instincts, to produce a good-sized bird at an affordable price. Our White Rock-Red Cornish cross chickens average a dress weight of 5lbs. and produce large, juicy breasts. Our Red Freedom Rangers are a little slower growing, providing a bird with amazing depth and robust flavor. The duck, goose, and turkey varieties we raise are all heritage breeds.

You can order your sustainably raised poultry by phone, email, mail, or on the farm during our monthly Poultry Pick Up days (usually the second Satruday of each month, 3-7pm).
