Farming has given owners Lillian Matlock and Luke Kilmaszewski the opportunity to change their values into purpose. Working with just under an acre of cultivated land in the East Columbia Neighborhood of Portland soil health is of utmost importance at Lil' Starts. East Columbia is a very unique neighborhood due to its wetlands, open space and drainage ways and our farm is located about half way between the Columbia River and the Columbia Slough. Anything that goes into our soil winds up in our food and our treasured waterways and this is our basis for all of the farming decisions we make. No synthetic fertilizers or pesticides of any type are used on our property, never ever. We only use manure, mulch and amendments from trusted sources
